Participant Limit
  1. Marathon: up to14,900 runners
  2. Pair-Ekiden: up to 100 pairs, 200 runners
  3. Wheelchair race: up to 20 athletes

Time Limit

Marathon and pair-Ekiden: 6 hours

※ Time limits will be indicated with a signal gun

Time Limit at Each Checkpoint Race officials will set a time limit at each checkpoint for traffic, security, and event operational reasons.
Regardless of the time limit at checkpoints, during the race, if a contestant is extremely delayed, race officials may stop his/her race.
Race Course The marathon course is currently under discussion among concerned organizations.
Race Rules Following the rules of The Japan Association of Athletic Federation for 2012 and the regulations of this competition.
Awards
  1. Marathon
    • 01 Males and females : Awards to the first 20 runners
    • 02 Males and females by age groups (every 5 years) : Awards to the first 3 runners
    • ※ Prize-giving ceremony will be held only for the top 8 runners of 01. For the rest of award-winners, award certificates will be delivered at a later date.
    • ※ There are no awards for pair-Ekiden
  2. Wheelchair race
    • Awards to the first 3 runners
Qualification for Participation
  1. Marathon and pair-Ekiden
    • 01 Participants must have been born before April 1, 1994. (in Heisei 6).
    • 02 Also, participants must be able to complete the race within 5 hours and 40 minutes. Participation by wheelchair is not permitted.
  2. Wheelchair race
    • Participants have to be registered wheelchair users as of March 10th, 2013, with a physical disability certificate issued pursuant to the provision of Article 15 of Physically Disabled Persons Welfare Act (Act. No.283 of 1949). As participants, they receive a recommendation from Kyoto Sports Association for the Disabled, which is then accepted by organizer.

  1. Marathon
    • Domestic : ¥12,000 Overseas : ¥15,000
    • Pair-Ekiden : 2 people for one team : ¥20,000
    • Wheelchair race : ¥2,000
    • ※ Donations for the Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction support program will be accepted (from a 500-yen donation unit)
    • ※ Overseas : all applicants who enter from the English site
    • ※ Pair-Ekiden, Wheelchair race are not available from in the english site
Entry Application By internet or postal transfer. In the case of oversubscription, competitors will be chosen by lottery.
Check-in

Allocation of racing numbers.

  • Friday, March 8, 2013 : 10:30-19:00 (final entry)
  • Saturday, March 9, 2013 : 10:30-19:00 (final entry)
  • ※ The above schedule is subject to change.
  • ※ No check-in will be accepted on the day of the race (March 10, 2013).
  • ※ Personal ID will be required at reception. Substitution is not permitted.
  • Place: MIYAKO-MESSE (Kyoto International Exhibition Hall)
Others
  1. A charity for the Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction support will be run.
  2. In the case of event cancellation caused for any reason beyond the organizer’s control, the entry fee will not be refunded.
  3. Only the registered applicant is eligible to compete in the race. Substitutions are not permitted.
  4. The wearing of unusual attire (such as costumes) by race participants is prohibited. The carrying or exhibition of advertising, trademarks or company names is not permitted.
  5. Application forms are scheduled to be available from mid-August in 2012.
